Hi there, my name is Sam, and I run the site, I’m the guy you see in the video clips on the site.
At the time of writing this, I have been growing giant pumpkins for 3 years. The first year I was just given a plant, having no idea what I was doing, or what to expect when this rather large vegetable grew and took over my garden.
After a lot of research on the internet, it became apparent how big this “sport” was overseas, and how it had been done for many years especially in the USA.
But how many people were doing this in NZ I asked myself, it turns out quite a few.
So I decided to put the website together, and help out people where I can.
On the website you will find a lot of information, from the how to guide, facts and questions page through to the weight estimate table.
Growing pumpkins is a good hobby, you don’t need much apart from a seed and some ground to grow one, anyone of any age can do it, and it doesn’t take too long to do, only about 6 months.
Once you have grown one, you get addicted to wanting to grow a bigger and better one each year. This is where you need the information and support from other growers.
I hope you find this site informative, and helpful in your giant pumpkin growing endeavors, I am looking forward to what the future holds for the giant pumpkin grower here in NZ.
Feel free to leave comments or get in touch about anything.
Cheers
Sam
