Pumpkin update, lost my Mojo?
Hi guys
Thanks for checking out the website, no video this time as when I went around to check on the pumpkins, not a lot was happening. Apart from weeds, everywhere.
I have about 3 -4 pumpkins growing at the moment, but they are very small. This could be due to a lot of different stuff, but the weeds are surely not helping the matter.
Losing the pumpkin mojo
I think with moving house and travelling a lot over this recent period I have lost part of my pumpkin Mojo. Just imagine that you have moved away from your pumpkin … Read the rest
Time to kick this season off
Hi
I’ve been sorting things out, and if you are subscribed to the newsletter you would have read that I had to change the website look at remove the forum, not going to go into it again here, it is time to move on and get ready for this season.
What is this year going to bring? Well I’m not a hundred percent sure, but hopefully lots more info and other stuff to check out on this site.
Feel free to leave comments on any of the posts that appear over the coming months.
Damn Spam Bots
Hi
I’ve just realised how much the forum is getting hammered with spam bots, so much so, they have taken over.
I will be temporarily taking down the link to it, will sort it out, and hopefully it will be back up to normal soon.
Sorry about this, it is something that is currently out of my control, but I will fix it soon.
Cheers
Sam

Competition is Around the Corner
Hi giant pumpkins growers, how are you all? No video for this post, so you will have to put up with my writing.
I think most of the country has been very wet this weekend. I know it sure has here, and with only 2 weeks until the competition I am a little nervous.
Growing the wrong way
I’m not sure if I have mentioned it before, but I am sure the keen growers out there would have noticed it, my big pumpkin is actually growing the wrong way, the blossom end is up the top, and the stem end … Read the rest
New Pumpkin Forum is up and Running
The new giantpumpkins.co.nz forum is up and running, here is a short video of me talking about it.
The main reason for it are:
- Easier way to share information between growers
- Easier for growers to get to know each other
- A new way to have the information displayed for everyone
You don’t need to register to read the forum, but you need to be registered to reply or start a new conversation. The link is up the top in the menu.
New Site Design
If you have been here before you are probably wondering what is going on.
Well I have changed the look of the website, to make it more concise, and a little bit simpler to find your way around.
All the content is still here, and the main focus is on the posts, just like this one.
Later tonight I will posting some current photos of the pumpkins.
Thanks again for checking out the website.
Welcome to the new look giantpumpkins NZ website
Hi there and thanks for checking out the website.
I decided to give the whole site a revamp, hopefully you find things easier to find, and the site on a whole more user friendly.
While a lot of the changes are mainly cosmetic, a lot of behind the scenes stuff makes it easier for me to update, and gives me the opportunity to add different features easily further down the track.
One of the cool new things is the ability to blog the whole season as I go along, all the latest entries will be found directly beneath the first … Read the rest
