Giant Pumpkins NZ - Positioning

Repositioning

The easiest way to explain this is to think of the vine that is attached to the pumpkin as the umbilical cord. It gives the pumpkin all the water and nutrients it needs, and if something happens to this, it may adversely affect your pumpkin and its growth.

This is where a little repositioning can help, as you can imagine if the pumpkin is in a weird position as it grows it may kink or tear the vine which will effect how big your pumpkin can grow. So a little help here can have big benefits later on down the track.

Hopefully you have a nice pumpkin that is growing at a right angle to the vine, and is in a nice position that is not going to cause problems as it gets larger, if you need to move it for whatever reasons do it in small steps. If you damage the vine, there is nothing you can do, but just leave it and hope for the best.
