Helping Seeds
Pumpkin seeds are a very hard seed, some growers gently file the edges with an emery board making it easier for the seed to sprout, and cuts out some time waiting for them to sprout. You need to make sure you only file the edges and not the tip of the seed.
How to spot a big pumpkin
When the pumpkins are small and just starting out, keep an eye out for the tallest and roundest. This is the best one to pick.
Keeping Snails Away
If you are wanting to keep snails away and don't want to use snail bait because of children or animals, fill a container with a bottle of beer, and leave it in the garden, snails love the beer and end up in the container
Watering Tip
Giant pumpkins love water, and this combined with a good tap root that likes to go deep into the ground, watering can be a bit of a problem. Burying a coke type bottle upside down next to the plant with the bottom cut off, can help with watering.
